How do I assign an investigator to a report?
Quick Reference
Assigning an investigator to a case in IntegrityCounts adds a team member to the investigation. Investigators can view the case details, add internal messages, update case information, and help manage the case through to resolution.
Only users with the appropriate role (Case Manager or higher) can assign investigators.
How to Assign an Investigator
Step 1: Open the Case
From the Case Manager Dashboard, click on the case you want to assign an investigator to.

Step 2: Locate the Investigation Team Section
In the case view, scroll to the Investigation Team section in the Case Details area on the right side.
Step 3: Add an Investigator
Click the Add button or the + icon next to Investigation Team. A dropdown will appear showing all available users who can be assigned. Select the person you want to add.

Step 4: Confirm the Assignment
Once selected, the investigator is immediately added to the case. They will receive a notification (based on their notification settings) and can begin reviewing the case right away.
What Investigators Can Do
Once assigned, investigators have access to:
- Full case details including the reporter's narrative and any attachments
- The ability to send Internal Messages visible only to the investigation team
- Updating case information such as location, department, and case type
- Adding tags for case organization
- Viewing the case activity log for a complete audit trail
Investigators cannot message the reporter directly unless they also have Case Manager permissions.
Removing an Investigator
To remove an investigator from a case, click the X next to their name in the Investigation Team section. They will lose access to the case immediately. Their previous contributions (internal messages, edits) remain in the case history.
Key Takeaways
Assign investigators to bring team members into a case. They get full case access and can contribute to the investigation through internal messages and case updates. All assignments are logged in the case activity trail.
